Not all bathrooms have a spacious layout, but that doesn’t mean you must feel cramped. With the right design choices and smart remodel ideas, even the tiniest bathroom can feel open and airy. If you’re planning a bathroom remodel in San Diego, here are some tried-and-true ways to make your small bathroom look bigger.
Dark colors may add drama but make a slight bath space feel closed in. Light shades like white, soft grey and pastels reflect more light, making the space open and fresh. Consider painting the walls a crisp white or using light-colored tiles for a bright and spacious look.
A large mirror can instantly double the perception of space by reflecting light and views. Install a mirror that covers the vanity or even the entire wall if you can. This trick helps make the space look bigger and more open.
Traditional vanities with big cabinets take up a lot of space visually. Instead, a floating vanity makes the room look more open by showing more of the floor, which makes the bathroom feel larger. It also adds a modern, stylish look to your design.
A shower curtain or framed shower door can cut off the room and make it look smaller. Switching to a clear glass shower door opens up the space visually. If privacy is your concern, frosted or textured glass works without feeling too heavy.
Let in as much natural light as possible if your bathroom has a window. Use sheer curtains or frosted glass to keep your privacy while letting in sunlight. If a window isn’t an option, consider installing a skylight or adding more artificial lighting with LED fixtures.
The more objects and decorations in a small bathroom, the more crowded it will feel. Keep your design minimal with clean lines, simple fixtures, and a streamlined look.
One simple trick to make your small bath space appear taller is to extend your shower tiles to the ceiling. This draws the eye of the person upward and creates a sense of height, making the space feel much larger than it is.
Wall-mounted sinks, faucets, and toilets save space on the floor and make the bathroom feel bigger. They also make your bathroom look modern and stylish.
A small bathroom doesn’t have to feel congested. With smart design choices and a few remodeling tricks, you can make your space feel open, airy, and stylish.
